FISHERS OF MEN CHURCHES IN KENYA
Talk of a church and quickly one will visualize a big building with across on it and many chairs where people meet to worship God. The Greek word for church is “ecclesia” meaning people called out from their divers’ cultural, ethnical and religious backgrounds. This people are called out ultimately with a common purpose of following Jesus Christ leaving a dignified and clean life that please God and man kind and finally awaiting their hope of inheriting the kingdom of God prepared for those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus and are committed to faithfully following him. At Fishers of Men we view a church as a family of people with common destiny, values, commitments and practices. Fishers of men Ministries has four stable churches in the western region of Kenya. Churches are led by carefully chosen Pastors that have passed the test of time by demonstrating a godly lifestyle worthy the gospel of Jesus Christ. These churches are; Mail isaba, Mokoiywet, Kimondo and Sitatunga.
MAILI SABA
Maili Saba Fishers of Men church is the central church serving as the region headquaters.The church led by Pastor Kennedy Magwiru a dynamic hardworking visionary Pastor. The church was born in March 2000.This church begun with the pastor, his wife and six other people; this was in a small rental room. After one year the church members had increased in that the small rental room was no longer enough to accommodate all the people. It was during this time in 2001 that through the help of Rev Joshua Ngao, the founder of the Fishers of men ministries and friends from the USA donated funds and enabled then to buy a plot and build a semi permanent church. The church plot measures 50x100 feet’s. In the year 2003 the church initiated the project of constructing permanent church building, church members contributed generously towards this noble course , it was the that Rev Joshua shared about this issue to the Savanna Methodist church by then led by Pastor Mike Jones. It was at this point that the Savanna Methodist Church donated funds for roofing the Maili Saba permanent church building. This church has become a haven of hope for many who receive spiritual nourishment and guidance and healing of wounded souls and spirit by the troubles and the cares of this world.
Mailisaba church recently hosted a great conference for two days with Rev. Joshua Ngao ministering. It was such a bussed conference that saw many people renewing their relationship with Jesus Christ and experienced a great awakening.
NEEDS AT MAILI SABA
1. Amongst the church needs is finishing and vanishing the church
2. The church having a plot of only 50x100 feet makes it difficult for expansion. There is therefore a pressing need for funds for expansion of the church plot.
3. There is also a need of constructing a modern office to serve the church and the region in the administrative needs.
MOKOIYWET
Mokoiywet Fishers of men Church led by Pastor Jonathan Barasa a faithful hard working Pastor started in the year 2000.This church begun in aclass room with few members, one year later the church congregation had increased tremendously. During this time Rev Joshua the founder of this Ministry talked to friends from the USA who donated funds that enabled the church to buy a plot of a half an acre land and build a semi permanent church.
NEEDS AT MOKOIYWET
1. The church has started a project of building permanent church building. Using the analogy of how Jesus often asked people in need” what do you have”? This church has baked 10,000 bricks and has gathered enough sand for this endeavor; this is an appeal to well wishers to donate towards this noble course.
KIMONDO
Led by Pastor Moses Wekesa, Kimondo Fishers of Men church begun in the year 2001 with a few members. It was in a rental room that this church begun. This church is situated in a very remote locality at the foot of Mount Elgon towards the border of Kenya and Uganda. Rev Joshua& Kathleen Ngao and friends from the USA donated funds for buying land for this church i.e. Three quarters of an acre and constructing a semi permanent church. In one of the visits to this church Rev Joshua Ngao brought Wayne Stuedmann and his family to visit, and share the love of Jesus with this poor community. After seeing the leaving condition of the people in this village, the Stuedmann family was filled with compassion. People are leaving in utter poverty whereby basic supplies like clean water, food, shelter and clothing’s is a problem, many children are orphaned by the dreaded HIV pandemic and out of school. Many parents are unable to provide for their families. It is at this point that the Stuedmann family and many other sponsors, through Pastor Joshua & Kathleen Ngao decoded to take the challenge of helping this people.
NEEDS AT KIMONDO
It was through this that the Kimondo victory Academy and now the Kimondo children’s home, these two projects have been made possible through generous donations from well wishers from the USA and locally.
The mission is now a home of 100 children who gets food and other needs as well as schooling. More children are still languishing in poverty in this village. This is therefore an appeal for local and oversea willing to support this great task.
1. Also out of the 100 children that are getting care at the orphanage, many of them still need somebody to sponsor them. Please can you give hope and a future to a child today by sponsoring?
SITATUNGA
From a humble beginning, Sitatunga Fishers of men church led by Pastor Patrick Mauso began in 2001 .This church began in a class room and continued to increase tremendously. In the year 2003 Rev Joshua& Kathleen Ngao and friends from the US donated funds for buying a church plot and constructing of a semi permanent church. The major need of for this church now is constructing of a permanent church building. The members have began donating towards this task and they are appealing to well wishers to partner with them in this great task by there donations. One amazing thing about this place is that; there is a wild animal called sitatunga; it looks like goat and lives in water and swampy mashes. This animal is only found in this place all over the world.
The animal is called Sitatunga and is found in Sitatunga and this church is called Sitatunga. People from all over the world come to Sitatunga to see the Sitatunga.
