Fishers of Men Churches

KENYA

Speak of a church, and quickly, one will visualize a big building with a cross on it and many chairs where people meet to worship God. The greek word for church is "ecclesia" meaning people called out from their divers' cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. These people are called out ultimately with a common purpose of following Jesus Christ, living a dignified and clean life that please God and man-kind, and finally awaiting their hope of inheriting the Kingdom of God- prepared for those who have surrendered their lives to Jesus and are committed to faithfully following Him. At Fishers of Men, we view church as a family of people with common destiny, values, commitments, and practices. Fishers of Men Ministries has four stable churches in the western region of Kenya. Churches are led by carefully chosen Pastors that have passed the test of time by demonstrating a godly lifestyle worthy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These churches are: Mail isaba, Mokoiywet, Kimondo, and Sitatunga.

MAILISABA

Maili Saba Fishers of Men Church is the central church serving as the central headquarters. The church is led by Pastor Kennedy Magwiru, a dynamic, hardworking, visionary Pastor. The church was born in March, 2000. This church began with the Pastor, his wife, and six other people; this was in a small rental room. After one year, the church members had increased and the small rental room was no longer enough to accommodate all the people. It was during this time in 2001, that through the help of Rev. Joshua Ngao, the founder of the Fishers of Men Ministries and friends from the USA donated funds and enabled them to buy a plot and build a semi-permanent church. The church plot measures 50x100 feet. In the year 2003, the church initiated the project of constructing a permanent church building. Church members contributed generously towards this noble course. It was the fact that Rev. Joshua shared about this issue to the Savanna Methodist Church then led by Pastor Mike Jones. It was at this point that the Savanna Methodist Church donated funds for roofing the Maili Saba permanent church building. This church has become a haven of hope for many who receive spiritual nourishment and guidance and healing of wounded souls and spirit by the troubles and the cares of this world. Maili Saba recently hosted a great conference for two days with Rev. Joshua Ngao ministering. It was such a blessed conference and saw many people renewing their relationship with Jesus Christ and experienced a great awakening.

NEEDS AT MAILI SABA

1) Amongst the church needs- finishing and vanishing the church.
2) The church having a plot of only 50x100 feet makes it difficult for expansion. There is therefore a pressing need for funds for expansion of the church plot.
3) There is also the need of constructing a modern office to serve the church and the region in the administrative needs.

MOKOIYWET

Mokoiywet Fishers of Men Church is led by Pastor Jonothan Barasa, a faithful, hardworking Pastor, and started in the year 2000. This church began in a classroom with few members. One year later- the church congregation had increased tremendously. During this time, Rev. Joshua, the founder of this Ministry, talked to friends from the USA who donated funds that enabled the church to buy a plot of half and acre land and build a semi-permanent church.

NEEDS AT MOKOIYWET

1) The church has started a project of building a permanent church building. Using the analogy of how Jesus often asked people in need, "What do you have?" This church has baked 10,000 bricks and has gathered enough sand for this endeavor; this is an appeal to well-wishers to donate towards this noble cause.

KIMONDO

Led by Pastor Moses Wekesa, Kimondo Fishers of Men Church began in the year 2001 with a few members. It was in a rental room that this church began. This church is situated at a very remote locality at the foot of Mount Elgon towards the border of Kenya and Uganda. Rev. Joshua and Kathleen Ngao and friends from the USA donated funds for buying land for this church. i.e. Three quarters of an acre and constructing a semi-permanent church. In one of the visits to this church, Rev. Joshua Ngao brought Wayne Stuedemann and his family to visit and share the love of Jesus with the poor community. After seeing the living conditions of the people in the village, the Stuedemann family was filled with compassion. People are living in utter poverty whereby basic supplies like clean water, food, shelter, and clothing is a problem. Many children are orphaned by the dreaded HIV epidemic and are out of school. Many parents are unable to provide for their families. It is at this point that the Stuedemann family and many other sponsors through Pastor Joshua and Kathleen Ngao, decided to take the challenge of helping these people.

NEEDS AT KIMONDO

It was through this that the Kimondo Victory Academy, and now the Kimondo children's home, have been made possible through the generous donations of well-wishers from the UDSA and locally.
The Mission is now the home of 100 children who get food and other needs as well as schooling. More children are still languishing in poverty in this village. This is therefore an appeal for local and oversea willingness to support this great task.

1) Also out of the 100 children that are receiving care at the orphanage, many of them still need somebody to sponsor them. Please can you give hope and a future to a child today by sponsoring?

SITATUNGA

From a humble beginning, Sitatunga Fishers of Men Church has been led by Pastor Patrick Mauso beginning in 2001. This church began in a classroom and continued to increase dramatically. In the year 2003, Rev. Joshua and Kathleen Ngao and friends from the USA donated funds for buying a church plot and the construction of a semi-permanent church. The major need for this church now, is the construction of a permanent church building. Members have began donating to this task and they are now appealing to well-wishers to partner with them in this great task by their donations.
>One amazing thing about this place is the wild animal- the Sitatunga. It looks like a goat and lives in water and swampy marshes. This animal is only found in one place all over the world. The animal is called the Sitatunga, it is found in Sitatunga, and the church is called Sitatunga. People from all over the world come to Sitatunga to see the Sitatunga.
