The Holy Spirit – What He does
The Holy Spirit helps us to obey the Truth. “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren” I Peter 1:22 He directs us to not walk after the flesh. “Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” Galatians 5:16 He leads us as we are now children of God “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” Romans 8:14&16 The Holy Spirit enables us to live our life for Jesus and not just serve our flesh. “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Romans 8:13 He helps us to pray. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which can not be uttered.” Romans 8:26 He gives us liberty – freedom “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” II Cor. 3:17
